How To Configure Internet Explorer 5.X and 4.x

This section provides step-by-step instructions for configuring Internet Explorer 5.x and 4.x. (Images below are based on Internet Explorer 5.x) If you need assistance with configuration of your browser, feel free to contact Citadon Customer Care or your system administrator.

  1. Launch Internet Explorer from your Desktop or from your Start menu.
  2. Select Tools > Internet Options from the Internet Explorer menu.

    (NOTE: For I.E. 4.x) Select View > Internet Options from the Internet Explorer menu
  3. Click the Settings button in the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab.
  4. Set the Check for newer version of stored pages option to Every visit to the page.
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. Click the Delete button in the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab.
  7. Make sure to check the box Delete all offline content. Click the OK button. (Internet Explorer 4.x, check the box "Delete all subscription content".)
  8. Click the Security tab.
  9. Based on the company policy on zones, the Web content zone setting for Internet Explorer should be set to Medium so that Users are allowed to accept Authenticode certificates for ActiveX and Java Applets. (See your System Administrator for more information on zones.)
  10. Click the Advanced tab.
  11. Scroll to the section HTTP 1.1 settings. Make sure Use HTTP 1.1 is checked.
  12. Scroll to the section Java (Sun) (if available). Make sure Use Java 2 v1.x.x is not checked.
  13. Scroll to the heading Microsoft VM (I.E. 4.x users should look for Java VM). Place a check on all three java options:
    • Java console enabled
    • Java logging enabled
    • Java compiler for virtual machine enabled
  14. Put a check into the following check boxes under the Security heading:
    • SSL 3.0
    • SSL 2.0
  15. If you are logging into ProjectNet with the Encryption box checked, then you need to also un-check the following under the Security heading:
    • Do not save encrypted pages to disk

  16. Click the OK button to save changes.
  17. You are now properly set for ProjectNet using Internet Explorer.
